While just a few short months have passed since we welcomed friends, family, and clients through our doors, the process for my office and studio has been in the works for quite some time. For the better part of the last year, I’ve been working on the planning and renovation of the office space and studio for Maggie Griffin Design. While that process was completed in a little under 5 months, my husband, David, and I have been scouting potential houses for me to renovate for my office space for roughly two years.

Comfortable chairs flank the front entryway, a built-in porch banquette offers a spot to curl up with a good book, and a swing lends itself to an afternoon nap in the sunshine. A covered deck with a fireplace provides a dedicated space for outdoor living, complete with a stone fireplace, plush couches, and a view of the wooded expanse. What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career? For any woman starting her career in interior design, its important to hone in which areas you’d like to specialize. It’s not as glamorous as it all seems sometimes… there’s a lot of schlepping, of finessing clients, and dealing with logistics.
